Privacy policy

This policy covers the Android app Parts Quote Compare (version 1.0.0) and the website partsquotecompare.website. In short: the app keeps everything on your phone and sends nothing.

1. Contact

For privacy questions, access and deletion requests, write to [email protected]. This is the single contact address for support and privacy.

2. What the app processes

The app only processes what you enter: requests (name, reference, tags, dates, VAT rate, notes, status and the supplier you chose for each item), items (part number, description, quantity, unit, needed-by date, notes), supplier quotes (supplier name, contact, quote number and dates, whether prices include VAT, delivery terms, lead time, payment, warranty and returns terms, notes), the prices per item (unit price, minimum order, pack size, volume prices, lead time, availability, warranty or returns text, the supplier's reference, a note), the change history and your settings such as the default VAT rate and date format.

3. Stored only on your phone

All data is kept in the app's private storage on your device. There is no account, no server and no cloud sync. The app has no internet permission and therefore cannot send data. We, the developer, receive none of your data and can neither see nor restore it.

4. Exports, sharing and backups

Data leaves the phone only when you do it yourself: the PDF comparison report, the order list as text or CSV, the CSV of all quoted lines and a backup of all data can be sent through the Android share menu to an app of your choice or saved in a folder you choose. What happens to those files afterwards is governed by the app or storage you sent them to. When you restore a backup, the app reads the file you picked locally.

5. Information about other people and businesses

Supplier names and contact details you type may relate to other people or businesses. They also stay only on your phone. Please record only what you need for your purchasing and pass on exports only to people who need them.

6. Permissions

The app asks for no permissions: no location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files, and no notifications. It opens and saves files only through the Android pickers and the share menu.

7. No adverts, analytics or tracking

The app contains no adverts, no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools, no advertising ID and no in-app purchases. It does not rate or recommend suppliers and has no commercial relationship with any supplier.

8. Keeping and deleting data

Your data is kept until you delete it: single entries or a whole request in the app, everything under “More › Data › Delete all data”, or by uninstalling the app. Exported files stay wherever you saved or sent them.

9. This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party services; fonts and images are served from this server. The server may keep technical access logs (for example IP address, time and page requested) for a short time to run the site securely.

10. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have rights of access, rectification and erasure. Because we receive no data from the app, you exercise them directly in the app. For anything else write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

11. Children

The app is made for adults who buy parts for work and is not directed at children.

12. Changes

If the way the app handles data changes, we will update this policy and publish the new version on this page.
